Being an Instructor - History provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - History typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Summary
    Kansas City Kanas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for Adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Photography. Our current need is for an adjunct to teach classes at any location including daytime, online, virtually and/or at area high schools. This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position are accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.


    Position Description

    • Hold all class sessions according to schedule
    • Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover the Art Department Student Learning Outcomes for the specific course(s) taught
    • Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills
    • Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience
    • Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work; monitor student progress
    • Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements
    • Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times.
    • Ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students.
    • Ability to effectively utilize Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading.
    • Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
    • Ability to be organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to work with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in design or art
    • Relevant professional experience in the field of art
    • Teaching experience with a diverse population

    Preferred Qualifications

    • An MFA in Art History or Fine Arts
    • Experience teaching Art History classes in higher education
    • Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college level
    • Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard
    • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy

    Work Schedule
