TITLE: EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT LEAD
RESPONSIBLE TO: Sr. Manager of Educational Programs

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
We want the Education and Engagement Lead to be an energetic, creative, and front-facing individual who is comfortable interacting with people of all ages. Their main tasks will be presenting and teaching educational programs to students, youth, and families, as well as giving museum tours to the public in an engaging way. These educational programs would be presented to field trips, camps, teacher professional development sessions and during family days. We are looking for an individual who is a strong educator and team player but also someone who brings great storytelling, even performative experience to the position. Presentations will explore diverse perspectives. The position helps the team with the development, implementation, and evaluation of museum programs. It would require learning all Frazier Museum curricula, assisting in the development of new material, and acquiring a strong working knowledge of museum exhibits and subject matter. They would take a lead role in set up and prep work for daily programs and assist with booking and administrative duties as needed within the department. There would also be occasional writing to share information about our educational team in our newsletter, Frazier Weekly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Serves as one of the lead teachers for daily field trips by teaching 45-minute classroom sessions, facilitating dialogue and exploration within our exhibits, leading the preparation/set-up for field trips, and helping with administrative duties of the field trip programs. (This is majority of the job)
· With the help and guidance of Frazier staff, develops and performs 20-to-25-minute storytelling experiences built around field trip and exhibit themes that may be dramatic, musical, or performative in nature. These experiences will mainly be performed for school groups and family audiences, with an occasion for other audiences as needed.
· Runs daily guided tours on the public schedule, communicating effectively and enthusiastically with a range of audiences that may include museum patrons, families, students, teachers, and institutional professionals.
· Assists the education team with the development and delivery of other public programs including teacher trainings, public history programs, free family days, and other Frazier events.
· Assists with camp programs by preparing and teaching several 45-minute classroom sessions that relate to the camp’s theme and supporting the camp program as needed. (Camps are in session during summer, fall, winter, and spring breaks)
· Assumes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*1 year demonstrated experience working with children in an informal or formal setting
*Ability to interpret history to diverse audiences in an engaging way
*Performance or storytelling skills strongly desired
*Enthusiasm, patience, and a strong interest in working with children and the public
*Thrives in a full and varied daily environment
*Must pass a background check
