Instructor - History teaches courses in the discipline area of history. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - History provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - History typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     UNM-Taos’ Humanities Department invites applicants living in New Mexico to apply for Temporary Part time Faculty positions (Adjunct) to teach a lower division course in History.  These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements.  The specific courses include, but are not limited to, the following: 

    HIST 1110 - United States History I

    The primary objective of this course is to serve as an introduction to the history of the United States from the pre-colonial period to the immediate aftermath of the Civil War. The elements of this course are designed to inform students on the major events and trends that are essential in the understanding of the development of the United States within the context of world societies. Meets New Mexico General Education Curriculum Area 5: Humanities.

    HIST 1120 - United States History II

    The primary objective of this course is to serve as an introduction to the history of the United States from reconstruction to the present.
