    Job Description Summary

    Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved Art History instructors for possible part-time teaching assignments in the Fine Arts Division. Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend classes at the San Luis Obispo Campus, the North County Campus, South County Center, California Men's Colony, other sites within San Luis Obispo County, or distance education.

    Essential Functions & Qualifications

    Required:
    • Master's in art history, history of art and architecture or visual culture/visual studies from an accredited institution;
    OR

    • Bachelor's in art history from an accredited institution AND master's in history from an accredited institution;
    OR

    • Master's in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history from an accredited institution;
    OR

    • The equivalent. (Candidates applying on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the HR Website .)
    OR

    • A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).
    Also Required:
    • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
    Desirable:
    • Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
    • Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
