ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Develop and teach Criminal Justice classes, focusing on law enforcement, in on-campus, online, and hybrid formats. Serve as lead instructor for law enforcement and the Criminal Justice degree.

Meet with state and local advisory groups to coordinate programs and courses, determine program outcomes, and ensure that CCC's Criminal Justice programs graduate students who meet or exceed local agency and industry standards.

Advise students who are enrolled in Criminal Justice programs.

Assist in developing department class schedules, course outlines, and subject-related extracurricular activities for students.

Review Advanced College Credit high school course articulations related to law enforcement and criminal justice.

Actively participate in departmental planning and other departmental activities, including program assessment and review.

Conduct credential and/or portfolio evaluations to assess eligibility for Credit for Prior Learning.

Act as lead instructor for associate faculty who teach law enforcement courses and provide support and guidance.

Represent CCC as needed on local and regional committees.

Actively participate on college committees, college initiatives and strategic priorities.

Develop and strengthen Cooperative Work Experience (internship) sites and supervise students.

Ability to use technology and online learning platforms to teach or enhance teaching in face to face, online, or hybrid formats

Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Master's degree or above in Criminal Justice or a related field, or
• Master's degree or above in any field, and Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice,
  
  or
  
• Master's degree or above in any field and more than five years policing experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience in Criminal Justice with a minimum of three years as a police officer.
• Applicants are encouraged to include in their CV/Resume training, education, and work experiences that have given them current knowledge of policing philosophies, tactics, training practices, and related laws.
• Evidence of successful teaching or training experience using diverse instructional methods with a diverse student population.
• 
  Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

The position requires minimal (5-20%) physical effort such as lifting, carrying, or movement, etc. Movements required to complete work are not difficult, and only require some degree of agility and hand eye coordination.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment is usually well-protected, with minimal hazards or obstacles (5-20%). There is little or minimal element of personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are usually comfortable, with minimal (5-20%) issues of confinement, temperature change, incident of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature, inside/outside work, dirty conditions, exposure to contagious disease, etc. Position may have minimal responsibility for driving.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel and may assign work to student workers.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general direction of the Dean of Technology, Applied Science and Public Services.
