    The Art Specialist at Pathfinder collaborates with individuals having intellectual or developmental disabilities, supporting them in leading self-directed lives and fostering their creative expression. With a focus on delivering quality services, the Art Specialist assists individuals in various age groups, ensuring they participate in enriching art experiences. This role involves teaching art skills and coordinating art opportunities while addressing daily living, communication, and work skills as needed.


    Key responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of each individual's needs, preferences, and interests and using effective communication strategies to establish collaborative relationships. The Art Specialist advocates for and respects the rights of the individuals supported, empowering them to manage everyday aspects of life and make informed choices.


    Additionally, the Art Specialist maintains detailed documentation of support plans, goals, and activities while safeguarding the individuals' monetary and personal resources. They collaborate with individuals and others to plan and implement individualized support ethically and holistically.


    Furthermore, the Art Specialist ensures the safety and well-being of the individuals, including administering medications, monitoring medical conditions, and promoting optimal health practices. They maintain fiscal accountability and fulfill safety responsibilities related to fire prevention, evacuation, and disaster planning.


    Moreover, the Art Specialist demonstrates proficiency in completing sales logs, check requests, and other administrative tasks. They also possess the necessary skills to handle art-related duties such as tagging, framing art pieces, and rotating displays as required. The Art Specialist is vital in empowering individuals with disabilities to express themselves creatively and lead fulfilling lives.

    Requirements

    Preferred Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.
    • At least 18 years of age.
    • Basic language, writing, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
    • Demonstrated ability to support people with disabilities.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule if needed.
    • Ability to teach and enable art experiences.
    • Crisis prevention, intervention, and teaching skills.
    • Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving record.
    • Ability to speak, hear, and read the English language.
    • Be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull against potential resistance, implement non-physical and approved physical interventions and CPR with people supported when needed
    • Shall have adequate vision, writing, and documentation skills to perform the job's essential functions.
