Instructor - Liberal Arts teaches courses in the discipline area of liberal arts. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Liberal Arts provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Liberal Arts typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • At Caldera, we believe in the power of creativity. Our mission is to inspire and support youth from underserved rural and urban communities by awakening the potential of their creative voice. We do this through a unique fusion of art, environment and mentorship. Our Youth Program provides students from Portland and Central Oregon with long-term relationships with caring adults, which nurtures individual creativity, beginning in sixth grade and continuing into young adulthood.


    During the summer, Caldera hires for a variety of positions to support our Discovery and Immersion overnights at the Arts Center. Positions include:

    • Challenge Course
    • Head Chef
    • Kitchen Assistant
    • Sous Chef
    • Health Director
    • Environmental Educator
    • Environmental Assistant
    • Junior Advocate
    • Youth Advocate
    • Camp Artistic Manager
    • Artist Assistant
    • Teaching Artist
    • Logistics Assistant
    • Connect Facilitator


    Compensation:

    • Salary/Rate of Pay is by the day, depending on position, with 1% increase for each year of experience working at Camp Caldera (not to exceed 7%)
    • Room and board provided during days with programming; room only during non-programming days. A light dinner will be provided on staff arrival days. Brunch is served on the last day of each session.

    Location: This is a seasonal position at our Arts Center-31500 Blue Lake Drive, Sisters, OR 97756 (transportation not provided)

    You'll be able to choose one or more sessions:


    • Discovery 1 (Middle School) session July 1-8
    • Discovery 2 session July 12-19
    • Immersion 1 (High School) session July 23-Aug 1
    • Immersion 2 session Aug 5-13

    Sample Daily Schedule:

    8:00 Breakfast

    8:40 Community Circle

    9:30-12:25 Break

    12:25 Kitchen Prep

    12:30 Lunch

    1:20 Staff Meeting

    2:00 Class Prep

    3:10-6:20 Assist in Classes

    6:30 Dinner

    7:45 Capture the Flag or Other Evening Activity

    8:45 Campfire

    10:30-11:30 Night Duty (once per session)
