Yakima Valley College seeks innovative adjunct Arts/Humanities Instructors committed to community college students and their success. This position is part-time, non-tenure track.
Reporting to the Dean – Arts and Sciences, the adjunct Arts/Humanities Instructor will be accomplished and active in their discipline, committed to participating in a multicultural, interdisciplinary learning environment, and skilled in the technology of learning and research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Master of Arts degree (MA) or equivalent degree in art, humanities or related field
- Minimum of one year teaching experience in studio and/or lecture classes at secondary, college or university level (assistantships included)
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: painting, drawing, digital photography, 2D design, pottery or ceramic sculpture, jewelry metals, art appreciation, art history, humanities
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in studio art or PhD in Humanities
- One year teaching experience in painting, drawing, digital photography, 2D design, pottery or ceramic sculpture, jewelry metals, art appreciation, art history, and/or humanities
- Established exhibition record and commitment to studio work
- Experience using a variety of classroom teaching and assessment methods
- Experience in developing studio and lecture courses
- Experience with online, distance or hybrid teaching modes
- Commitment to participating in an ethnically and culturally diverse college community
JOB PROFILE:- Provide instruction in a variety of art courses including; Art History, Humanities, Painting, Drawing and Design
- Provide classroom support for students with a variety of backgrounds and experience levels
