- Master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in mathematics.
- 2 years’ experience teaching mathematics courses, preferably at the college level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Functional competency with the Canvas LMS, and other related educational technology tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
- Dedication to student-centered learning and academic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field.
- 5 years of teaching experience at the college level, with a record of effective instruction and student engagement.
- Evidence of scholarly activity such as research publications, conference presentations, or grant funding.

Summary of Duties:
The full-time Math Faculty Member at COTC will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in various mathematics courses, fostering student success, and contributing to the academic environment of the Mathematics Department and the Division of Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in mathematics, effective teaching methodologies, and a track record of scholarly activity. Additionally, they will collaborate with colleagues, participate in departmental activities, and engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and learning.
The full-time faculty member will:
- Teach a variety of mathematics courses, including co-requisite, college-level, and College Credit Plus (dual enrollment), based on departmental needs.
- Develop and revise course materials, assessments, and instructional strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Provide academic advising and support services to students, including course selection, degree planning, and career guidance.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and other institutional initiatives to support the mission and goals of the Mathematics Department and the college.
- Maintain regular office hours and availability to students for academic assistance and consultation.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess student learning, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement continuous improvement measures.
- Stay current with developments in the field of mathematics, pedagogy, and educational technology through professional development activities and scholarly pursuits.
- Engage in scholarly activities, such as research, publication, and conference presentations, to contribute to the academic discipline and professional development.
- Support the college’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department chair or academic administration.
