Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, filing paperwork, and responding to patient inquiries.
- Patient intake and registration. Greet patients, verify their personal and insurance information, and assist them in filling out necessary forms.
- Appointment scheduling. Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and consultations, coordinating with the physician's calendar.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and assist in obtaining patient’s medical history, including current medications, allergies, and past illnesses, obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, height and weight and update the patient’s medical record accordingly.
- Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff such as venipuncture, collect blood samples for laboratory testing (adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines), perform basic laboratory procedures such as urinalysis and blood glucose monitoring, conduct electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed by clinicians, perform ear irrigations and other routine clinical tasks as directed by clinicians
- Assisting with examinations and minor surgical procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, including stocking necessary supplies and equipment for patient appointments including the sterilization of minor surgical tools and instruments following established procedures to maintain a sterile environment.
- Assess, review, and file incoming documents such as medical records, test results, and referral forms. Communicate any critical or urgent findings to clinicians and nursing staff promptly updating health maintenance records, such as mammograms, pap smears, colonoscopies, and other preventive screenings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Facilitating and assisting with referral process. Coordinate referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers as needed, including scheduling appointments, obtaining authorization from insurance companies, and ensuring timely communication between the referring physician and the specialist.
- Follow up on incoming and outgoing records requests to facilitate the timely exchange of medical information with external parties.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring that the practice is well-stocked and prepared for patient care.
- Process prescription refill requests, communicate with pharmacies, and ensure that patients receive their medications as prescribed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program is preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is advantageous.
- Previous experience working as a medical assistant in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in performing venipuncture, ear irrigations, conducting EKGs, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centric approach to care delivery.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer proficiency.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
