    Duties and Responsibilities: 

    Teaching role includes the teaching equivalent of 12 credits teaching courses per semester in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN to BSN, and/or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs with duties to include: teaching classroom lectures, clinical practicum and labs, and courses delivered by distance education; advising students; engaging in development of outcomes assessment; serve on SON committees and events; and participate in mandatory faculty meetings. 

    Minimum qualifications

    1. Master’s degree in nursing. 
    2. Eligible for Hawaii RN licensure and other established professional and health requirements. 
    3. Acute care experience in medical/surgical, obstetrical, mental health, and/or pediatric health care. 
    4. Experience in teaching or working with undergraduate clinical nursing students in acute care, long term care, mental health, obstetrics and/or pediatrics settings, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position. 
    5. Experience teaching culturally diverse student populations in rural clinical settings. 
    6. Excellent communication, planning, and organization skills. 

     Desirable qualifications: 

    1. Doctorate in a nursing-related field. 
    2. Experience teaching on Hawaii island with diverse student populations. 
    3. Extensive experience with acute care adult health clinical instruction in BSN nursing programs. 
    4. Experience with asynchronous education technology and outcomes assessment. 
    5. Experience coordinating clinical programs in undergraduate Baccalaureate nursing programs with culturally diverse populations. 
    6. Background or experience with simulated learning experiences, including the use of high-fidelity patient simulators via detailed, clinically-based scenarios with instruction, evaluation, and remediation in didactic and/or clinical learning settings.
