Instructor - Philosophy teaches courses in the discipline area of philosophy. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Philosophy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • POSITION GOAL
    • Demonstrate and promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
    • The goals of this faculty position are to teach undergraduate level courses in Philosophy and related courses; to share with other faculty members the common responsibilities for the governance of the College.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Teach a normal load of 15 contact hours per semester / 30 contact hours per academic year starting no earlier than August 25 and ending no later than June 25.
    • Ability to teach at both the Blackwood and Camden City campuses.
    • Ability or willingness to teach in a variety of modalities including online, hybrid, and H.A.R.T.
    • When conducting classes:
    • Conduct classes as scheduled by program director and dean.
    • Process and post grades as scheduled in the academic year.
    • Prepare master schedule of all Philosophy classes including meeting times, days of the week, location, duration, and instructors.
    • Start class on time and conduct class for the fully scheduled time period.
    • Provide students with a written statement of course requirements and expectations that shall include the attendance and grading policy, course objectives, and a course outline.
    • Retain all credit course documentation for a period of not less than three (3) years upon the completion of the course.
    • Observe the approved Departmental Master Syllabi.
    • Maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week for consultation with students.
    • Adhere to the “Professional Code of Ethics” subscribed to between the Board of Trustees and the Faculty Association.
    • Participate in academic advisement as scheduled.
    • Participate in the academic program review of the curriculum as scheduled.
    • Participate in the Mentoring Program for Non-Tenured Faculty Members and the Partners in Learning Program for Tenured Faculty Members.
    • Attend all the monthly department and division meetings.
    • Attend meetings of the Faculty Assembly; attend College committee meetings as appointed.
    • Attend all orientation functions and commencement activities as required.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in Philosophy; doctorate preferred.
    • Minimum of three years community college teaching experience preferred.
    • Training and/or experience in teaching on-line college level courses preferred.
    • Experience in coordinating an Honors program and/or teaching Honors courses preferred.
