Instructor - Philosophy teaches courses in the discipline area of philosophy. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Philosophy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Type of Assignment:

    Position Available: MiraCosta Colleges Philosophy and Religious Studies department invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time (10 months per year), tenure-track faculty position, beginning August 2023. Principal responsibilities include teaching introductory philosophy. The person selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating and developing curriculum and using culturally-responsive pedagogical techniques. IMPORTANT: MiraCosta College requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to promote a safe and healthful workplace for employees and to promote the health and safety of our campus community.     Compensation: Initial salary placement is based on education and experience and ranges from $80,981 (class I, step 1) to $135,570 (class VI-doctorate, step 10) on the 2023-2024 Annual Salary Schedule.     Minimum Qualifications:
    To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
    1.Masters in Philosophy; OR

    2.Bachelors in Philosophy AND Masters in Humanities or Religious Studies; OR
    3. the equivalent. Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application.     4. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND
