Instructor - Physical Therapy teaches courses in the discipline area of physical therapy. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Physical Therapy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Physical Therapy typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     A PTA will assist in providing effective and efficient physical therapy treatments according to established treatment plans under the direction of a physical therapist that embodies the Doctors of Physical Therapy vision: to provide patient outcomes via evidence based practice and literature supported treatment which maximizes patient service and quality care.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Adhere to the APTA Guidelines and abide by all federal and state regulations.
    • Deliver the highest level of patient care and service supported by evidence and research.
    • Understand and comply with proper documentation requirements including for the need of progress note, re-eval, etc.
    • Ensure timely, professional, and high level communicate with all referral sources regarding patient care.
    • Attend training and continuing education courses to foster professional growth.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations
    • Progress patients skillfully and safely through the levels of treatment within the maximum capabilities of the patient
    • Consult with supervising Physical Therapist regarding progress and changes in patient's condition
    • Provide relevant education to patient and family regarding home programs and
    • Develop and maintain effective communication with the patient, family and other members of the rehabilitation team
    • Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment
    • Demonstrate willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need
    • Orient, instruct and direct work activities for support personnel as appropriate
    • Participate in quality and safety improvement activities as directed by the Clinic Director
    • Participate in program development and marketing efforts as directed by the Clinic Director
    • Perform any other duties as directed by the Clinic Director

    Qualifications:

    • Current physical therapist assistant license for the state in which you will be practicing
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from a CAPTE accredited physical therapist assistant program
    • Experience in providing skilled physical therapy to a variety of patient populations including, but not limited to soft tissue mobilization, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, functional activities, neuromuscular re-education, and modalities as needed.
    • Experience with working closely as a member of the physical therapist/physical therapist assistant team to provide beneficial treatment to patients
