Instructor - Physics teaches courses in the discipline area of physics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Physics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Physics typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. The Math and Physics Program at New England College is seeking a candidate for a Visiting Instructor position whose primary responsibilities will be residential teaching in the quantitative literacy course, algebra and trigonometry, statistics and potentially in Physics I and II lecture and lab. These courses serve students in the Liberal Arts and Science program and the science students. This is a benefited position.
Essential Duties Summary- offering engaging and hands-on experiences in classes
- student assessment and support
- teaching 12 credits in fall and spring
- participation in course development and assessment
- participation in division and faculty governance
Required Qualifications- MS in Mathematics, Secondary Math Education or other related field
- Documented experience in teaching math
- Demonstrated knowledge of and use of effective innovative pedagogy
- Ability to work with diverse student populations.
- Commitment to active learning and experiential education
