Being an Instructor - Physics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Physics typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Adjunct Physics Instructor (Online)

    Job Description
    Iowa Western is currently seeking Adjunct Physics Instructors to join our exciting, student-focused team. Instruction for all physics classes occurs online. The Adjunct Physics Instructor is responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the Dean. Duties include, but are not limited to: teaching classroom and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, assess student learning outcomes in courses each term, and refer students to college resources.

    Required Qualifications
    • Master of Science in Physics OR a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in Physics.
    • Ability to pass a background check.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Community college teaching experience.
    • Understanding of community college philosophy and the community college student.

    Physical Demands
    Ability to occasionally lift 10 pounds, ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use a phone and some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
