The Department of Physics and Optical Engineering at
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks applicants for a full-time visiting
Assistant Professor position to support the department, primarily in teaching
introductory physics courses, starting August 2024.
The Department of Physics and Optical Engineering offers a
B.S. degree in physics, nanoengineering and optical engineering, along with an
M.S. degree in optical engineering. The department also supports several minors
and certificates, including a semiconductor certificate, astronomy minor, and a
material science and solid-state physics minor. Some active research programs
include semiconductors, nanotechnology, and optics.
Requirements include a Ph.D. degree in physics or related
discipline. Degree completion by August
2024 is acceptable for this position. Essential job functions include teaching
and advising students, primarily in the introductory calculus-based physics
courses, both lectures and laboratories. While outstanding teaching is the most significant criterion for success
