Job Description:
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The primary responsibilities are: 1) to teach courses in two or more areas of Psychology: Principles of Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and/or Child Psychology; and 2) to provide faculty leadership in at least one area that supports curriculum and program development, accreditation, or other college-wide strategic goals . Faculty loads require a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. Office hours, advising, and other institutional commitments on campus are required. Teaching assignments may include a variety of modes, including: on-campus, Zoom, Hyflex, and, asynchronous. Based upon the needs of the College, teaching assignments may also include day and/or evening classes at multiple on-and-off campus locations, to include dual enrollment courses in high school settings. Opportunities for summer teaching will be based on student interest.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Psychology, or a Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
The equivalent of at least two years, full-time post-secondary teaching experience in Psychology.
Experience performing full-time faculty duties, such as: advising, service on committees, on-campus activities, and office hours.
Demonstrated ability to embrace new technology and pedagogical theories into instructional and faculty responsibilities; including use of Canvas (or a similar learning management system), and delivery of classes in different modes of instruction.
Preferred 18 graduate semester hours in Social Work or Human Services.
Experience working with student internships based in the workforce.
Demonstrated experience leading higher education faculty (e.g., experience as program head, leadership of professional development efforts, or leadership in other college-wide projects).
Demonstrated ability to embrace the community college’s mission, which includes communicating and working effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding, and inclusion.
