Job Summary
The Social/Behavioral Sciences department has four full time faculty members who teach courses including introduction to psychology, human growth and development, sociology, and social work. While working closely with the department chair, this position will report to the instructional division dean of Arts and Mathematical Sciences.
Responsibilities and Duties
This faculty position will begin in September 2024. This is a nine-month on-campus faculty position with a full load consisting of 15 contact hours and 10 office hours. The college operates on a four day (Monday through Thursday) teaching schedule, with occasional meetings or professional development activities scheduled on Fridays. Expectations for this position may include the following: teach in person afternoon and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach in person dual credit classes in high schools; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or blended classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom. Primary responsibility is the teaching of Psychology 2314, Lifespan Growth and Development and Psychology 2301, General Psychology. Other responsibilities may include participation in the general education/assessment program, on-going curriculum planning and review; professional/instructional development; participation in committee activities; student registration, advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; and other related duties as assigned.
All full time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year of employment.
