Instructor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.   • George Fox University announces a part-time, adjunct instructor position in Sociology, to begin in spring semester of 2023. The successful candidate will teach 2 courses (listed below).

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Teaching SOCI 150 (Principles of Sociology) on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 12 to 12:50 pm in the spring (1/9/23-4/28/23)
    • Teaching SOCI 220 (Men and Women in Society) on Tuesday, Thursday from 12 to 1:15 pm in the spring (1/9/23-4/28/23)

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Sociology or a related field is required.
    • Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
    • Demonstrates awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
    • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
    • Communicates effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and service.
    • Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S. and be a resident of one of the following states: Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, New York, Ohio, or Texas.
