Instructor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Position description

    The Department of Sociology at the University of California, Davis, offers temporary Lecturer positions to teach undergraduate courses during the 2024-2025 academic year. These positions are dependent upon the instructional needs of the department and may be full- or part-time.

    APPOINTMENT DATES: Assignments vary according to type of course and percentage of appointment. Service periods are:

    Fall Quarter 2024 September 23 - December 13
    Winter Quarter 2025 January 3 - March 21
    Spring Quarter 2025 March 27 - June 12

    QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in teaching at the college level, and advanced degree in Sociology or related discipline is required.

    SALARY: This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement (Unit 18). The annual salary rate for this position is $66,259.00, and is commensurate with percentage of appointment.
