Instructor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Pfeiffer University is seeking an adjunct for Criminal Justice/Sociology to teach for the Fall semester on the Misenheimer campus. Responsibilities include teaching and advising undergraduate students, participating in curriculum/program development; delivering instruction through a combination of day, evening, and online classes on both the Misenheimer and Charlotte campuses.
Pfeiffer University is a private, Liberal Arts University, affiliated with the United Methodist Church, whose mission is to prepare servant leaders for life-long learning. The main campus is located in Misenheimer, approximately 40 miles northeast of Charlotte, NC, with additional locations in Charlotte and the Raleigh area.
Position Qualifications
Applicants must have a Masters and experience in teaching college-level Criminal Justice/Sociology. Ph.D. preferred (ABD considered).
