ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR OF SOCIOLOGY
Wofford College invites applications for an adjunct instructor of sociology in the Department of
Sociology and Anthropology. We are searching for a colleague who can teach two sections of
Introduction to Sociology and one 200-level sociology course. Current course descriptions can be found
in the Sociology and Anthropology Course Catalog. The successful candidate will be expected to work
with the department to continue to foster an inclusive curriculum for a diverse student body and to
teach first-year-friendly (FYF) courses.
Wofford College’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology enables students to immerse themselves
in the study of society and culture. They learn about human thoughts and behaviors through time, from
the prehistoric past through the current day. Students use social theory to investigate race, gender,
class, history, religion, philosophy, politics, ethics, economies, landscapes and more. Students also
practice collecting ethnographic and survey data and engage with social justice and biocultural diversity.
Faculty in the department are devoted to inclusive classrooms, high-impact learning experiences, critical
thinking, and civic engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Ph.D. in sociology is preferred, although candidates who are ABD by start date or who have a master’s
degree in sociology will be considered. Preferably, applicants should have previous teaching experience
or exhibit strong interest in pedagogical development.
