Monona Grove School District: Monona Grove School District has an opening for a 1.00 FTE Special Education Assistant to serve students in Grades 9 through 12. Position begins approximately August 29, 2022.
Essential Role Responsibilities:
- Work with students with a variety of disabilities that present challenges in learning, behavior, and social/emotional development.
- Assist in development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans.
- Lead in development and use of restorative practices and service work in lieu of traditional forms of disciplinary responses with targeted students.
- Supervise students with disabilities in school and community settings.
- Supervise and instruct students with disabilities in homebound settings.
- Assist in daily care routines.
- Medication administration.
- Follow individualized health care plans and monitor and report changes in physical condition.
- Provide academic and behavioral support in classrooms, community, and resource settings.
- Provide instruction using various intervention programs (overseen by licensed teacher).
- Work collaboratively as part of an education team.
- Data collection.
- Attend work regularly.
- Support proportional representation of all learners in all classrooms.
- Communicate proactively and effectively with other teachers and administrators.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including special education teachers, to provide a range of academic and social-emotional support to students in inclusive classroom settings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Prior experience as a Special Education Assistant or Regular Education Assistant preferred.
- Previous experience working across settings with students that demonstrate challenging behaviors preferred.
- Associates degree or 48 credits at a higher education level preferred.
- Ability to lift and position up to 75 pounds required.
- Technology skills
- Commitment to equity.
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Bilingual skills are highly valued, but not a requirement of this position.
License Requirement:
- Valid WI Department of Public Instruction Special Education Program Aide License, or ability to obtain license upon hire required or;
- A valid WI Department of Public Instruction teaching license.
