Instructor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. TEACHER - GIFTED/ELEMENTARY (#5222)

  • Must have a K-12 teaching license with Gifted endorsement.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Properly certified in all areas of assignment required
    2. Demonstrate cooperativeness and a willingness to carry out assigned tasks and performance responsibilities
    3. Bilingual Endorsed if assigned to a Bilingual setting
    4. Other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

                               Director of Special Programs

     

    GENERAL SUPERVISOR:  Superintendant

    JOB GOAL:      To provide gifted identified students with advanced learning and enrichment activities,

                             Experiences and opportunities in order to help those students utilize their special

                             Intellectual gifts to the fullest.

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Meet on a regularly scheduled basis with such student(s) as have been identified as being capable to work in the area of competence at a level higher than that of the regular curriculum/bilingual curriculum offering.
    2. Work on curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of the bilingual curriculum and implement EPSS.
    3. Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement.
    4. Set up such problems, experiments, projects and activities related to student needs, interests and capabilities.
    5. Identify areas of student strengths and weaknesses, and plan further learning experiences and activities accordingly.
    6. Supervise students in the preparation and execution of independent study projects.
    7. Communicate bi-weekly, monthly or sooner as the need arises, to discuss the student’s progress and behavior.
    8. Process and maintain such classroom textbooks, supplies and materials as are needed, following established school procedures in doing so.
    9. Confer with the other regular teachers on student evaluation as requested.
    10. Arrange fundraisers for field trips as financially appropriate and feasible.
    11. Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program
    12. Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish.
    13. Attend EA & R meetings and provides input in developing/modifying IEP (s).
    14. Participate in filling out Time Study for Medicaid reimbursement.
    15. Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee
    16. Perform other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s).
