Insurance Claims Coordinator jobs in Lafayette, LA

Acadian Ambulance is currently seeking a candidate for the full-time position of Claims Coordinator in our Risk Management Department. The Claims Coordinator manages the initial activities of liability claims made against Acadian Ambulance Service and all subrogation claims that Acadian is pursuing. Also, assists the Risk Manager/Director of Risk Management with activities that are deemed within the responsibilities of the position.

This position is located at the North University location in Lafayette, LA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review all incoming liability incident reports and provide direction to RM Assistant on file opening/claim reporting
• Investigate and gather missing information to ensure proper liability claims handling
• Set-up rental vehicles for claimants
• Obtain police reports for accidents involving AASI vehicles
• Assist in coordination of claims activities with insurance carrier/Third Party Administrator
• Prepare reports on claim history to requesting agencies/committees, including safety/loss prevention
• Monitor the record keeping activities of all files within risk management department
• Coordinate and process subrogation claims efforts on behalf of AASI: to include internally handled subrogation, as well as vendor handled subrogation and files that move to litigation for subrogation
• Gather required information and/or documentation from Fleet and/or Materials Management to support subrogation claims
• Continued pursuit of compliance of all aspects of risk management
• Assist with tasks related to Section 111 Medicare reporting
• Assist in review of monthly invoices related to deductibles and claim handling fees
• Provide support and/or assistance in claim reporting/set-up when needed
• Provide information and documentation to internal and external counsel when needed
• Process and/or back-up support for check requests on liability files
• All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• College degree in related field encouraged
• Adjuster licensing preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and customer relation skills
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and work independently
• Ability to multitask
• Possess strong organizational skills
• Understands HIPAA and Red Flag guidelines

Training Requirements:

• Adjuster license – if a candidate does not currently possess one, he/she would be required to obtain one within 6 months of the employment start date.
