Insurance Claims Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting initiatives relative to the evaluation, processing, and handling of insurance claims for an organization. Acts as a liaison between the organization, its insurance provider and agents, claimants, and policy holders regarding the status and eligibility for coverage for all relevant claims. Being an Insurance Claims Coordinator reviews claims to make sure that billing requirements are met, updates accounts as necessary, answers inquiries, and makes recommendations for resolution. Typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Insurance Claims Coordinator typically reports to a manager. The Insurance Claims Coordinator gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. General Definition
Investigates, evaluates, and negotiates settlements of multi-line insurance claims.
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
A bachelor’s degree and or comparable work experience is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills are also required. Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner in person and by telephone or written communication and must be able to deal effectively with the public in stressful situations. Dependable, responsible, organized, and detailed person must be able to work independently and as a team member. Maintain CE in compliance with N.C. Department of Insurance and N.C. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company requirements. Familiarity with medical and legal concepts is desired. Must have mechanical and construction aptitude or ability. Must be able to extend and climb a ladder and maneuver within a crawl space. Ability to lift 35lbs. on a regular basis.
