Insurance Verification Specialist jobs in Columbus, MS

JOB SUMMARY
The Insurance Authorization Specialist uses the clerical process to collect demographic and insurance data to obtain pre-certification/prior authorization, determines if pre-certification/prior authorization is required and obtains authorization for procedures requiring pre-certification/prior authorization prior to procedure being done.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Performance Expectations
1. Collects demographic and insurance data to obtain prior authorization for procedures
2. Determine if prior authorization is required for procedures by providing ICD-10 and CPT codes to insurance company
3. Obtain authorization from payors
4. Informs physician’s office, when testing/services are missing required authorization, that ordered services will be rescheduled if required
authorization is not received prior to patient arrival.
5. Calculates and communicates the patient’s liability prior to service and collects any credit card or debit card payments

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma, GED, or greater education
Understanding of admissions, billing, payments and denials
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
2 years experience in a healthcare related position
Experience working with insurance companies
Patient Access experience
Excellent communication skills
Mature reasoning ability
