Insurance Verification Specialist jobs in High Point, NC
Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for the pre-verification of insurance for patients being admitted into the hospital for care. Ensures insurance coverage by telephone, resolves any issues with coverage and escalates complicated issues to a supervisor or manager. Being an Insurance Verification Specialist interviews patients and completes all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all hospital and regulatory policies are in compliance. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Insurance Verification Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an Insurance Verification Specialist typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. - Verify insurance eligibility for medical insurances for upcoming appointments by utilizing online websites or by contacting the carriers directly Includes Private Insurance, Veteran’s Association, Medicare/Medicaid – All Adult Clinics
- Review patient deductibles and/or copays and enter into the system for the front-end department
- Communicating with Front Desks when there are issues with patient’s insurances
- Update insurance information for existing patients when needed
- Determining if authorization is required for plans via phone and online portals
- Obtaining authorization if it’s required before the patient can be seen and entering it into patients’ chart
- Sending messages to Front Desks and Therapists informing them of authorization requirements and how to obtain
- Coordinate with front end regarding scheduling errors.
- Assist front end staff in understanding verification of eligibility
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
