POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for pre-verifying insurance for patients’ office and procedure visits. The insurance verification specialist supports multiple clinics and requires high attention to detail and customer service. This position will collaborate with the Clinic Manager, Front Desk, and Patient Concierges.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Verifies insurance eligibility for medical insurance for upcoming patient appointments by utilizing online websites or by contacting the carriers directly via telephone
• Responsible for documenting patient information in an electronic system to communicate eligibility to clinic team members
• Requests referrals and authorizations as needed
• Verify insurance eligibility for non-elective surgical procedures
• Review patient deductibles and/or copays, complete cost-share estimates, and enter the electronic system for various locations
• Coordinate with the front desk/call center regarding scheduling errors.
• Enter insurance referrals as needed.
• Answers questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant insurance verification experience in a medical office, ophthalmology, or vision experience preferred
• Proficient in computers and relevant EMR systems.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
