Ensures insurance coverage by telephone, resolves any issues with coverage and escalates complicated issues to a supervisor or manager. Being an Insurance Verification Specialist interviews patients and completes all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all hospital and regulatory policies are in compliance. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Insurance Verification Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an Insurance Verification Specialist typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Under the general supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation, oversees all office functions. Assures accurate and timely reception, scheduling, charge and data entry, report preparation, filing and record keeping and other duties. The associate is expected to acquire an understanding of and proficiency in all functions of their assigned area s for Trinity Outpatient Rehabilitation Services (TORS).

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent. Keyboard accuracy. Computer knowledge and skills; experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Insurance knowledge required. Experience with medical insurance processing, Medicare, Medicaid, CCI edits, Medicare Functional Therapy Reporting and Therapy Cap requirements, local payer coding and billing guidelines as they pertain to physical, occupational, or speech therapy preferred. Knowledge of commercial and worker’s compensation insurance. Excellent communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Ability to establish positive relationships with associates, volunteers, third party intermediaries, local business community serving as a source of hospital revenue. Medical terminology preferred. Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities. Able to establish and meet deadlines. Must be able to use and demonstrate the use of office machines and to work constantly with telephone/computer communication devices. Assemble information accurately and efficiently. Able to follow complex written and verbal instructions and solve problems logically.
