Insurance Verification Specialist jobs in Savannah, GA

Southeast Lung Associates is currently seeking an experienced Medical Insurance Verification/ Precertification Specialist to join our growing, progressive practice in Savannah, GA.

As an Insurance Verification/ Precertification Specialist, you would be responsible for monitoring appropriateness and medical necessity, and providing necessary information for authorization and continued visits. In this role you will complete insurance verification and confirm pre-certifications that have been obtained or will obtain pre-certifications if needed.

• Review information for continued visits management including type and duration of service, authorization and treatment codes, re-authorization and continued visit requirements necessary for ongoing treatment.
• Responsible for Insurance verification.
• Responsible for obtaining and communicating pre-authorization as needed per insurance company requirements.
• Responsible for tracking, obtaining, and extending authorizations from various carries in a timely manner.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
• Review and interpret insurance policies and benefits
• Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary information
• Update patient records with accurate insurance information
• Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and concerns
• Collaborate with medical billing team to ensure accurate claims submission
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Verify receipt of all necessary pre-authorization documents prior to the procedure.

Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office setting
- Familiarity with medical coding and terminology
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding system
- Proficient in insurance verification processes and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience as an Insurance Verification/ Precertification Specialist with electronic medical record experience, solid knowledge of precertification. Athenahealth experience preferred.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
