Being an Insurance Verification Specialist interviews patients and completes all paperwork necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and all hospital and regulatory policies are in compliance. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Insurance Verification Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Tri-Area Community Health is seeking a full-time Front Office Insurance Specialist for our Laurel Fork office. This position is primarily responsible for being the liaison between Accounts Receivable and Front Office Staff. Duties include (but are not limited to): working with the Accounts Receivable staff having a thorough understanding of medical insurance and billing procedures and guidelines; assisting front office staff to accurately enter and verify insurances and copayments; and answering questions regarding insurance coverage from staff and patients. Candidate must be comfortable speaking with patients about their insurance coverage and account balances. This position is expected to occasionally work the front office positions of check-in, check out, and switchboard. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year of experience in a medical office or hospital environment is preferred. Previous experience in patient insurance and/or billing is strongly preferred. Must be detail-oriented, as well as have excellent organization and time management skills. Must have good communication skills and be familiar with using technology.
