Patient Services Representative (24 hours)
Provide front desk clerical support with the daily activities of the urgent care center patient reception area, including telephone coverage, visit registration, and assisting patients with inquires. Must be detail-oriented with good interpersonal and customer service skills. Works under the direct supervision of the Nurse Clinic Manager, and reports to the Practice Administrator/RN.
As we provide services seven days a week, this job does require every-other-weekend rotations. This position is 24 hours per week with a shift schedule of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides exemplary customer service; greet and treat all patients, visitors, and coworkers with courtesy and discretion.
- Communicates in a courteous, professional, cooperative, and mature manner.
- Answers telephone in a timely and polite manner; either responds to the inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a response by medical personnel while entering appropriate notation into practice management software.
- Register patients in the practice management system; accurately enter/update current patient information from established and new patients; identify proper payer source, verify insurance eligibility, and determine any patient's financial responsibilities at the time of service.
- Reviews practice management system for needed updated demographics and consent forms.
- Assists patients with the completion of paperwork when necessary.
- Enters confidential personal health information and financial information into a computerized system with a high rate of accuracy.
- Collects payments from patients apply to patient accounts in the computer system and reconcile daily cash deposit.
- Scans identification cards and related documents into the practice management system and labels appropriately per protocol.
- Complies with federal and local laws in ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisorial and/or clinical or provider staff as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
