POSITION: Deputy District Attorney - District Court
LOCATION: 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office – Sterling, Colorado
SALARY: Starting salary between $80,000-$90,000, based on experience and expertise. Salary includes full medical, dental and visions benefits for employees, as well as a retirement plan.
SIGNING BONUS: $2,500 at beginning of employment; an additional $2,500 upon two-year anniversary of employment with the office.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
While this may not be the "wild west", here in the 13th Judicial District, we pride ourselves on fiercely pursuing justice. Out here on the high plains of Colorado, you have the opportunity to become actively involved in your cases - from charging the case, all the way through to trial - each case is your own. You will work closely with and alongside our law enforcement agencies in the prosecution of your cases. By knowing your officers, this allows you to become fully immersed in your cases, to include one-on-one consultation in your office with the officer to driving to the scene with them for an overview of the case. That is the beauty of working in this jurisdiction. You will have the ability to review reports, meet and work with our investigators, write, and respond to motions and briefs, negotiate with all manner of attorneys, and best of all you will be in court for advisements, dockets, motion hearings, plea hearings, trials and much more.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must possess excellent oral and written skills to communicate effectively
· Have the ability to exercise discretion
· Have the ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents and statutes
· Knowledge of principles and practices of criminal law, procedure, and evidence
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Law degree from an accredited law school
· Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado, eligible for admission On Motion, or eligible for admission on UBE Score Transfer. The District Attorney’s Office may be able to assist with the cost of any Attorney admission fees or dues.
· Minimum two-years prosecutorial experience
· Must successfully pass a background check
