The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Hourly Wage: $13.12
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Performs moderately complex (entry level) habilitative client-care work. Work involves implementing treatment programs, evaluating and revising program goals and objectives, in conjunction with individual's team, and performing therapeutic or developmental activities. May train and/or supervise the work of others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
Minimum Qualifications
Required: Must be at least 18 years of age. May substitute preferred educational requirements with a written competency-based assessment given by the Center of the ability to document service delivery and observations of the individuals to be served and at least three written, personal references from persons not related by blood that indicate the ability to provide a safe, healthy environment for the individuals being served.
Preferred: Experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Graduation from a standard high school or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required: Must have the ability to provide care, training, and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Must have skill in the use of a computer and applicable software (Microsoft Outlook/Word/etc., SmartCare, Electronic Visit Verification, other Center systems). Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a good driving record. May use personal vehicle to conduct business as needed and must have ability to operate Center vehicles, including a wheelchair lift. Must have willingness to be flexible with schedule to include evenings and weekends when client need arises. Must have ability (after Center training) to administer first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and SAMA ("Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression"). Must (after Center training), and in the course of being employed, understand and implement trauma-informed care practices.
Preferred: Knowledge of habilitative and rehabilitative programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Knowledge of client techniques and of treatment, therapy, and developmental programs.
