Interface Designer - Web applies user-centered design principles to improve the workflow, expand the functionality, and enhance the visual appeal of websites and mobile apps. Gathers requirements from users and stakeholders, defines information architecture, creates sample user personas, and documents user workflow. Being an Interface Designer - Web designs wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. Applies the results from user research and usability testing to create new features and improve current features. Additionally, Interface Designer - Web requires knowledge of visual design and wireframing/prototyping tools. May perform user research, usability testing, or facilitate focus groups. May require familiarity with various graphic design software packages. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Interface Designer - Web occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     The Web Designer creates digital graphics to be used on our websites and across digital marketing channels in support of 48 Alabama Power Appliance Center locations. The Web Designer will be able to translate high level business requirements and promotional campaigns into branded, intuitive, revenue generating designs that are appropriate to their respective channel.
    The Web Designer develops site content and graphics by collaborating with the Ecommerce Specialist and Advertising team - designing images, icons, banners, etc. Designs include the following, from concept to execution:
    • Monthly emails designed and tested
    • Website graphics (expected 2-3 updates per week)
    • Website landing pages (Gift Guide, Branded Pages, etc.)
    • Blog graphics
    • Social media graphics
    • Website UX updates
    • Intranet updates
    The Web Designer will make continuous improvements to the websites by upgrading site-wide content and graphics as needed through testing and analysis findings, promotional needs, etc.
     
    Additional duties:
    • Be familiar with and adhere to corporate brand guidelines
    • Collaborate with Advertising team on campaign requirements, social media strategy, etc.
    • Support retail stores through special projects
    • Use design best practices to maximize media’s impact
    • Create, develop, design, code and implement digital content
    • Test designs across multiple browsers and devices
    • Edit & proofread content for accuracy
    • Manage code repository in GitHub
     The ideal candidate would have experience in web graphic design, web user interface design, responsive design, knowledge of web programming and experience working in Shopify with Liquid code. This creative individual would be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, have strong HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript. They should understand how API connections work, as well as have an understanding of JSON file structure.

    The schedule for this position will be three days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) in the office and two days (Wednesday, Friday) remote.
