Position Overview
The Interior Designer is responsible for designing both beautiful and functional interior spaces for all aspects of residential design. You’ll be responsible for creating an array of schematic design options as well as presenting and purchasing all interior finishes (this includes ordering cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, tile, lighting/etc.). Must be a team player with exceptional organization and communication skills; this is paramount to the success of the Melton Design Build team. Must be comfortable with clearly communicating design ideas/intentions with clients and peers. Projects include remodels, additions, and new builds.
Duties / Responsibilities
· Design kitchen, bath, and other remodel/addition projects.
· Respect the client’s budget. Present them with at least one design option that meets their budget.
· Use 2020 software for design, drafting, and pricing for all for projects requiring cabinetry.
· Produce preliminary design drawings either via hand-sketches or computer-generated schematics.
· Clearly present design options and materials using PowerPoint and utilizing the design center for client presentations.
· Applying your product knowledge and expertise to comfortably guide clients to solidify selections.
· Create and maintain a detailed product selection list for each client’s project.
· Work with our custom and non-custom cabinetry lines. Develop a strong knowledge of cabinetry spec books and samples in our Design Center.
· Keen eye for details – able to review and note drawings pertaining to interior finishes.
· Specify appropriate interior finishes for specific applications and budgets.
· Coordination of new cabinetry samples, displays, updating vendor pricing and maintaining design center.
· Proficient with quoting and ordering all cabinetry, tile, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and lighting fixtures for your projects.
· Periodic on-site meetings during the construction process.

· Thorough and clear communication with clients, the Melton Design Build team, and trade partners.
· Highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. This requires effective time management skills.
· Able to work independently and coordinate effectively within the Design Team.
· Strong sense of overall design, creative solutions, and awareness of budgets.
· An interest in staying up to date with changing design trends.
Education & Experience
· Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture.
· Preferred skills and experience with 2020 cabinet layout and pricing software.
· Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
· Experience with Adobe Creative Suite & SketchUp.
· Preferred experience with Rendering software (Sketchup/Enscape/Revit)
· 5 years of experience designing kitchen and bath remodels, including finish selections and specifications.
· 5 years of experience with space planning, schematic design, design development, and construction document drawings.
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods of standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
· Must be able to travel and navigate to client sites.
· Must be able to work safely at client sites in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.

Pay: $24.00 - $36.00 per hour
