Summary: Audits the accounting and financial data of various departments within the organization to ensure accuracy and compliance with government guidelines and laws. Identifies compliance and accounting weaknesses and researches issues. Makes recommendations to improve internal controls accordingly. Monitors nexus issues, governmental compliance issues and various tax issues as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the timely execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan, as well as other audit matters and projects. Analyze and communicate results with the Senior Manager of Finance and Risk. Review the suitability of internal controls on an on-going basis. Stay current on all tax updates and nexus issues. Advise and recommend strategies to manage risk. Establish risk-based audit programs. Execute audits, maintain investigations and report results to the appropriate management. Monitor compliance/tax issues with Local, State and Federal governments. Attend training and education seminars to stay informed on issues concerning compliance. Prepare and file all relevant tax and compliance forms with appropriate agencies. Maintain effective and efficient communication within the department and with managers/supervisors throughout the company. This may include interviewing key personnel involved in the business process or operation being audited. Assist with freight reporting, cost analysis, data aggregation, co-op and rebate audits, A/P audits, etc… Assist with yearly budget preparation and reporting. Assist with year-end processes and gather requested information for outside auditors. Traveling to other sites on occasion to perform inventory, fixed asset or other internal control testing when necessary. Perform other accounting tasks as needed and work with management on miscellaneous accounting functions. Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Minimum Experience: 1-3 of general bookkeeping, accounting. Training will period will be on-site.
