    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Director, Operations Program Regulatory Compliance, the Program Manager, Technical Publications is responsible for the overall management of the corporate technical publications program at Hawaiian Airlines. They are responsible for setting the overall direction and vision of the technical publications program, including the use of content/document management systems, distribution strategies, revision schedules, policies, and procedures across operating disciplines. The Program Manager establishes documentation standards and processes, manages the technical documentation vendors, and oversees product quality control, distribution, and customer satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with supervisor, responsible for creating and executing long-term strategy for Hawaiian Airlines' technical publications program consistent with Senior Leadership operating objectives.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day management of Hawaiian Airlines' corporate Technical Publications program with specific responsibilities including but not limited to:
    • Perform effective vendor oversight and ensure accountability to contracts.
    • Build, maintain, and adhere to a comprehensive program budget.
    • Oversee and control execution of a comprehensive technical publications revision schedule including all operating disciplines to ensure priorities are addressed, process and procedure is followed, and accountability is maintained.
    • Maintain and continually audit an accurate and complete Master Technical Publications Library.
    • Strategically develop and continuously evaluate sustainable processes to effectively and efficiently review, revise, approve, and distribute technical publications.
    • Set realistic performance goals for the Technical Publications program, resolve conflicts, and establish realistic standards in collaboration with the operating disciplines.
    • Develop and facilitate strategy and process to build and maintain ample cross-departmental interface, coordination, and collaboration to minimize content conflict, unnecessary duplication, and to increase process efficiency.
    • Maintain and leverage awareness of industry trends and changes in technology to improve the Technical Publications program.
    • Help ensure regulatory compliance during development and revision to technical publications
    • Emphasize a customer service mindset anticipating and responding to customer needs (the operational departments).
    • Manage vendor and guest access to technical publications.
    • Perform administrative duties associated with Technical Publications program.
    • Oversee the corporate Technical Writer team.
    • Oversee the printing and duplication functions at Hawaiian Airlines.
    • Perform Technical Writer functions as required to ensure operational sustainability.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
    • 3 years experience in a technical publications or technical writer role, or related working experience.
    • Familiarity with structured document creation and utilizing desktop publishing software.
    • Familiarity with Content and Document Management Systems and mobile distribution strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to proactively support and work in a production environment.
    • Proven ability to achieve results by effectively and productively leading others in a fast paced environment with multiple customers, deadlines, and priorities.
    • Must be able to work flexible hours beyond business hours, including weekends and holidays, promptly respond after-hours, and travel occasionally for learning opportunities or work-related requirements.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to summarize complex technical matters.
    • Must be able to represent Hawaiian Airlines confidently and professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Driver’s License.
    • Ability to procure and maintain airport security credentials (SIDA).

    Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $78,000 - $111,000.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
    • Experience with airline and aircraft manufacturer’s technical documentation.
    • Experience with a CFR Part 121 air carrier or military equivalent in the field of aircraft Technical Publications, Quality Assurance, auditing, or engineering.
    • Strong working knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker structured document development processes and procedures including template design.
    • Experience working with XML documentation.
    • Experience with SharePoint and SmartSheet.
    • Experience with Airbus Flight Ops Documentation Manager (FODM).
