    Basic Function:

    The Senior Vice President - Commercial Banking ("SVP") shall oversee all facets of the Bank's business in Peoria/Marshall County and the surrounding areas. The SVP shall also be responsible for development and management of commercial banking relationships and may approve commercial loans within a designated lending authority. The SVP serves as a central point of contact between a business and the Bank, partners with other Bank colleagues from other divisions of the Bank to provide a broad range of financial services with excellent customer service. The SVP may manage a team of Commercial Bankers and Treasury Management personnel within the market.

    Essential Job Duties:

    The SVP's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Supervising the daily activities, developing skillsets, and responsible for outcomes of their team.
    • Managing and growing a portfolio of commercial loans
    • Developing treasury management and other banking business through cross-selling activities
    • Taking loan applications and interfacing with the customer/applicant to facilitate a complete loan application; communicating the loan decision to the customer/applicant
    • Approving loan requests within the SVP's designated authority
    • For requests in excess of the SVP's lending authority, performing (with the assistance of the Credit Department) preliminary analyses of loan opportunities and recommending an appropriate response (i.e. approval, decline, counter-proposal, etc.) for Bank management's consideration
    • Proactively developing new business through a formal sales calling program focusing on businesses, accountants, attorneys, and other centers of influence in the community
    • Maintaining excellent credit quality through careful monitoring of existing loans, tracking receipt of timely financial information, and verifying compliance with financial covenants; monitoring loan grades based on customer financial performance as well as industry and other considerations
    • Assuming leadership roles in community organizations and being visible at community events
    • Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and issues related to the commercial lending operations.
    • Assist the compliance officer in preparing for audits and regulatory examinations.
    • Provide timely responses to examinations and audits. Assist the compliance officer in developing and implementing plans for correcting deficiencies noted in examinations and audits.
    • Conduct all duties in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies and procedures.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of commercial credit analysis as well as the Bank's commercial loan and related policies.
    • Must be personable and energetic, with a strong attention to detail.
    • Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

    Training and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields is required, and formal credit training is strongly preferred.
    • 10 years of combined commercial lending and/or commercial credit analysis experience.
    • Previous management experience and/or formal leadership training is strongly preferred
    • SVP is expected to engage in continuing professional education on an ongoing basis

    This is a full time, exempt position eligible for a competitive benefit package.
