Overview

A dynamic and growth-oriented mid-market roofing construction company is seeking a skilled Controller to oversee our financial operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in accounting and finance, specifically within the construction or roofing industry. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is pivotal for ensuring financial integrity, executing effective financial strategies, and enhancing operational efficiency throughout the company.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements following GAAP and compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
• Supervise the accounting department to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and the integrity of financial data.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Lead the budgeting process, monitor financial performance, and report variances with actionable insights to senior management.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as required.
• Provide financial analysis and guidance on growth plans, profitability, cash flow, and cost control measures.
• Play a key role in financial decision-making, providing strategic recommendations to the CFO and executive team.
• Oversee and streamline accounting and financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and work closely with the operations team to understand and support project financing requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role, preferably in the construction or roofing industry.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and experience with financial forecasting and analysis.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing financial controls and processes.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

**Experience with Sage 300 or Sage Intacct, CRM, and Procore is highly preferred.**
