International Controller directs and develops the organization's international accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Ensures the preparation and analysis of all financial reports meet the needs of the organization and comply with all applicable regulations. Being an International Controller maintains an in-depth, and up to date knowledge and understanding of both US and international accounting principles. Advises management of potential changes in accounting regulations or practices that may impact international operations and reporting. Additionally, International Controller requires a bachelor's degree of accounting or finance. Typically reports to a CFO or top management. Typically requires CPA. The International Controller manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. As the number-two executive to the CFO, the Controller will be involved in supporting presentations to the Board Finance and Audit Committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team.
The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of Finance staff including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Working closely with the Financial Systems Manager, the Controller will ensure that IFAW has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and clean financial statement audits. The Controller will work closely with program, communications and development leaders and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support their operations.
In addition, this position will partner with the CFO, Senior Leadership, and the Human Resources (HR), Legal and Information Technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate Finance, HR, Legal and IT functions.
