Job Title: Sr. Human Resources Manager
Job Purpose
We’re looking for a talented, motivated and enthusiastic person to join our HR team as an Sr. HR Manager and to partner with the business. This position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. This person will bring a background in HR best practices and a passion for innovation. They thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoy collaborating, problem-solving, and identifying opportunities to implement creative solutions. They roll up their sleeves and dive into new projects and learning opportunities, and they have a strong customer service orientation. They’re experienced and well-versed in a wide range of HR activities supporting all aspects of the employment lifecycle, from recruitment and selection through to performance management, training, and development, to end of employment activities. This position will also partner with the business strategically to ensure full alignment. Also managing a team to ensure that all support required is provided to the business on a day to day basis.
Nature of Duties / Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
- Works with hiring managers to design and develop recruitment strategy.
- Builds a talent pipeline and networks with appropriate external contacts (partners, universities, colleges, etc.) to market employment opportunities.
- Recruits new employees by searching out and identifying potential candidates, adapting processes using creativity and personal networks when appropriate; conducts employment interviews to determine employability; advises on employment decisions; determines compensation packages in conjunction with management, considering all relevant factors; makes employment offers.
Employee Relations
- Listens and fosters open communication throughout the business.
- Understands employee opinions, monitors the effect of business decisions on people and advises senior management on addressing employees’ concerns.
- Applies employee relations and employment practices in order to create a positive, ethical, effective work environment.
- Leads investigations into employee issues and concerns, and works with internal parties to find solutions.
Management Support
- Maintains close contact with the HR team to work in synchronization with the other business units.
- Provides interpretation, consultation, and facilitation to both employees and managers in highly confidential or complex employment issues to promote resolution.
- Ensures that HR services are provided as appropriate to internal client needs, identifies new opportunities where HR can add value, and maintains leading-edge knowledge of HR issues.
- Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
- Provides stats and metrics to HR and to the business unit on a regular basis
- Provide market data
- Work with the business by conducting talent reviews on all employees, identify gaps, single point of failure positions
- Work with the business on succession planning
Compensation & Benefits
- Participates in pay equity initiatives and undertakes internal equity assessments.
- Liaises with benefit providers and consultants on benefits issues and questions.
Policy & Program Development
- Researches and develops policies and programs that are in line with best practices and consistent with company values and philosophies.
- Leads and participates in cross-functional project teams as required.
- Identifies, supports, and champions opportunities for change and continuous improvement.
- Designs and develops communication strategies and training for employees and managers with respect to company programs, policies, or processes.
Legislative & Internal Compliance
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings. Works with internal teams to ensure compliance
- Drives internal compliance, and promotion and adoption of best practices within the HR team.
- Understands the internal framework and applies SOX compliance principles to HR activities.
External Partnerships
- Builds relationships with, and co-ordinates the work of, external service providers & partners.
- Works with external partners, including agencies and academic institutions, to build talent pipelines and address resource requirements.
- Liaises between management and agency partners to determine temporary labor requirements on an ongoing basis.
- Works with relevant internal and external partners on invoicing and reporting requirements.
Data Management
- Leverages appropriate internal systems for maintaining, auditing, and updating employee information in accordance with established procedures.
- Tracks and reports on relevant information to identify trends and opportunities.
Education and Experience
- 8 years’ experience in a human resources generalist capacity.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
- Hiring, Human Resources Management, Benefits Administration, Performance Management, Communication Processes, Compensation, and Wage Structure, Supports Diversity, Classifying Employees, Employment Law
- Well-developed understanding of compensation theories and practices and ability to apply them.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Suite.
- Proficiency with HRIS, ATS and database systems.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-versed in legislative requirements and employment law.
- Personable individual who is able to build professional relationships across the organization, enabling a high degree of teamwork.
- Strong customer service orientation and leadership skills.
- Strong initiative required to be successful in this role.
- Generally requires a College/University degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
