    PURPOSE:

    Under the general supervision of the Director of Admissions and direct supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the International Programs Admission Coordinator provides complex student service professional work for all International prospective students and applicants. Uses knowledge and experience to evaluate and make pre-admissions and admissions eligibility determinations based on records, transcripts, official documents and the appropriate criterion. Recommends educational goals and admissions requirements to potential international students. Carries out day to day assignments that affect CSUMB enrollment goals.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Coordinates the seamless admittance, transfer credit analysis and posting, and enrollment of new international students and supports new student orientation programs for all international programs. Serves on all international programs' admissions committees.
    • Reviews and evaluates foreign academic transcripts and credentials for international and domestic admissions across CSUMB.
    • Provides counseling to international prospective students on admission to the university and discusses eligibility with denied students. Advises and counsels new international students on admission and transfer course credit.
    • Researches, proposes and implements office-wide policies/procedures related to admission processes.
    • Creates, coordinates and implements effective communication to all international prospective students and applicants. Utilizes Hobsons, CMS/PeopleSoft, dashboards, portals, and other software to effectively communicate, track, and analyze communication read rates, and other data.
    • Manages operational aspects of the International Programs prospective student and admissions process including: conditional, freshmen, transfer, graduate, English Language program exchange, semester @ CSUMB, 2 2 agreements, various government sponsored student admissions, and all other international student initiative. Fulfills a support and backup role for all extended education program admissions.
    • Extracts and analyzes applicant and enrollment data to provide reports on goals and progress.

    Other Functions:

    Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Working knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior; procedures and activities of the program to which assigned; general knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management. General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.

    Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts; and, rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas Services Office.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job- related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

    Must have experience in advising international students on admission and transfer course credits, experience in evaluating foreign academic transcripts and credentials for international and domestic admissions, and advising and evaluation. Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills, specifically working with international students. Must also have the knowledge and the ability to maintain academic records.

    Ability to work adjusted schedule, including evening and weekend work, may be required to meet admissions file evaluation goals and deadlines, particularly during peak admissions processing seasons.

    Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports; work effectively and interdependently in a diverse university environment; establish work priorities and meet deadlines; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations; apply complex rules and regulations to daily work; analyze academic qualifications and review foreign transcripts for validity and transferable credit; advise prospective students on courses and procedures necessary to complete admissions requirements and process; perform arithmetic calculations; ensure accuracy and assume responsibility with a minimum of supervision; work with computers in an on- line student record environment and with word processing software. Demonstrated ability to address the essential functions associated with this position including the knowledge and abilities identified above.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
