    The Construction Director will be a critical member of the CloudHQ (CHQ) Development & Construction team, responsible for ground-up development and construction of CHQ's Data Center products in France.

    The Construction Director will focus on all stages of a project, with an emphasis on speed to market, quick project delivery, quality and cost effectiveness and will be responsible for the delivery of a single Data Center project or multiple projects as required.

    The Construction Director will function as the Employer's Representative on site, in France, acting as a leader to the general contractor/design team, and be the primary liaison between CHQ and the construction and design teams.

    The team in Europe is at an early stage of building so the role offers an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial individual with a keen attention to detail.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Project Leadership. Build and leverage partnerships with architects, engineers, contractors, trade partners, equipment vendors, local municipalities, etc;
    • Project management in design, preconstruction, and construction stages;
    • Schedule Management & Risk Mitigation;
    • Report Project Progress on scope and schedule as required, to be the eyes and ears of CHQ on site;
    • Coordination, managing internal and external resources, and driving results;
    • Change management;
    • Goal alignment/Stakeholder management;
    • Communication with adjacent property owners and neighbourhood groups as needed;
    • Ensuring compliance to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, and requirements. Help promote a safe working environment for all team members, colleagues, contractors, and customers.
    • Supervision of other project participants as needed;
    • Challenge and remove barriers by working with others around a shared need or customer benefit. Be proactive in driving for the best solutions for our customers;
    • Ability to maintain a broader perspective, identify and evaluate opportunities to enhance the business through cross-group collaboration. This should not be limited to your specialism but be across all disciplines;
    • Liaise with our customers to assist them in the delivery of their preferred solutions into CHQ Data Centers and be part of the team that makes us the data centre provider of choice;
    • Consult with global CHQ colleagues to ensure that best practice is uniform across all our developments, irrespective of geographic location;
    • Assist with utilities planning and coordination;
    • Vendor Management. Attend factory witness testing, where appropriate;
    • Champion CHQ initiatives on all projects; and
    • Adhere to and promote the core values of CHQ.
    Requirements:


    Job Qualifications


    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or similar related field. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree considered.

    Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience as a Construction Manager. Data Center experience preferred but not essential, CHQ will consider other transferable experience and skills.

    Background in complex commercial, pharmaceutical, semi-conductor, mission critical or high-tech development would be an advantage.

    Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Deep knowledge and understanding of construction in France(European region an advantage);
    • Strong experience managing major project(s) and/or construction program;
    • Working knowledge of construction contracts used in France (European region an advantage);
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with a team, as well as work independently applying individual expertise;
    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and effectively;
    • Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate, be able to think strategically, ability to build trust;
    • Critical thinker and problem solver;
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface directly with customers;
    • Willingness to travel locally and nationally on a regular basis;
    • Proficiency with MS Office;
    • Experience with Scheduling/Programming software and analysis;
    • Good English and local language skills essential; and
    • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, with regular need to work outside of normal business hours due to global business needs.

    This position will be physically based in France, and travel within the region will be required. An average minimum of 3 days per week on site will be expected.
