Interventional Radiological Technologist assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being an Interventional Radiological Technologist observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of experience in radiology and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additionally, Interventional Radiological Technologist typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare in Imaging Services and assist in the performance of other duties. Provides quality patient care in a manner consistent with a safe and professional environment with primarily high-risk and critically ill patients of all ages. Performs patient care duties associated with invasive procedures of all disease processes, and maintains procedural statistical documentation on all cases. A competent RT may place PICC lines under the physician's direction and supervision. This position functions in a highly specialized and unique area and must be available to participate in the on-call rotation covering week-ends, holidays and various weekdays. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiology. A RT who places PICC lines will have successfully completed a PICC line placement course. One (1) year experience as a radiology technologist and Interventional experience. Current ARRT registration, current AHA BLS certification. Current ACLS or obtained within 9 months of hire. Competent in the utilization of all standard radiographic equipment and supplies. A competent RT may place PICC lines under the physician's direction and supervision. Employee will additionally be able to utilize suction machine, O2 tanks, IVACS, blood pressure cuffs, and have knowledge of cart with code supplies.
