Interventional Radiological Technologist assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being an Interventional Radiological Technologist observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree, at least 2 years of experience in radiology and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additionally, Interventional Radiological Technologist typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Interventional Radiological Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Radiologists and Interventional Supervisor, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs a variety of specialized and general procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. These procedures include, but are not limited to, specialized medical imaging modalities such as angiography. Responsible for patient care with no age limitations.
Job Requirements: Functional knowledge of principles and procedures used in diagnostic radiology for safe and efficient operation and maintenance of routine radiologic equipment. This ability should be at or above a level acquired through formal education in a program approved by the NYS Department of Health. Current State of New York license to practice Diagnostic Medical Radiography. Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must be certified to inject IV contrast at the time of hire or within sixty (60) days after hire.
