    Statement of the Job:

    The Inventory Control Technician assists to oversee activities of Central Supply at UMaine. The position provides support to the campus community and Facilities Management by maintaining a vast variety of goods in a warehouse. Serves as the primary point of contact for customers, staff, delivery drivers, and all guests. Provides customer service, support, and delivery regarding a range of products. Inventory, computers, and product knowledge are essential to the success of the position. Temporary, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Starting pay for this position is $18.22/hr.


    Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Transporting materials between locations.
    • Conducting Inventory
    • Computer program usage
    • Labeling supplies
    • Preparing product returns
    • Vendor communications
    • Purchasing, tracking, stocking, and selling materials
    • Moving materials and equipment for larger projects.
    • Performing manual labor associated with the assigned task or responsibility such as unloading trucks and stocking shelves.
    • Adhering to safety procedures, including reporting mechanical and/or safety issues.
    • Operates equipment in a safe and effective manner and in accordance with state and national motor vehicle licensing requirements.
    • Computer use including supply and inventory programs

    • Counter attending to assist customers

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
    • Valid Maine driver’s license
    • Inventory and customer service experience
    • Warehouse experience
    • Computer skills
    • Purchasing experience
    • Procedures for operating, inspecting, maintaining, and storing assigned equipment;
    • Traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation;
    • Use of assigned tools/equipment;
    • Procedures and techniques involved in assigned work processes.
    • Providing exemplary customer service;
    • Operating assigned tools and motorized equipment safely and effectively;
    • Identifying equipment malfunctions;
    • Maintaining records and reports, as required;
    • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, students, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.
    • Positions in this class typically require: Ability to perform physical activities that require talking, hearing, seeing and considerable and repetitive use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, climbing, lifting, bending, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Heavy work: The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Lifting and exerting forces more than 50 pounds requires assistance by other employee(s) or mechanical assistance. Individual forces must never exceed 50 pounds. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, fire, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, difficult driving conditions, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
