The South Dakota State Historical Society Research and Publishing Office has an opportunity for a Temporary Inventory Manager who is committed to quality customer service and professional staff assistance. This person will start on the agreed upon hire date and work through June of 2024. This position is primarily responsible for order fulfillment, maintaining inventory, warehouse tasks, and processing of all payments and refunds. Duties will include answering the main office phone, maintaining databases in QuickBooks, preparing a variety of sales reports, generating royalty payments, communicating through correspondence and email, and completing physical inventory of assets. Must be able to lift forty-pound boxes. Duties will also include assisting the director and other office staff. The ideal candidate will thrive in a flexible atmosphere as a member of a small publications team. The SDSHS Research & Publishing Office includes the award-winning South Dakota Historical Society Press, with more than 75 titles in print that are warehoused on site.
Two years' experience in a retail or office environment, an interest in history, and an appreciation for books.
